Sound editing and design for film is not just a technical job but also a creative one.

In this seminar recommended for pre-professionals to professionals, Oscar-nominated (La La Land, 2016) Singaporean sound designer Ai-Ling Lee will draw from her 20 years of experience working in Hollywood and use specific examples from three films she has worked on — La La Land (2016), Wild (2014) and The Maze Runner (2014) — to discuss:

  • From script to sound: How a sound designer in Los Angeles works with the rest of a film's creative team
  • What happens before and during production
  • How sound design affects film language
  • Different processes of post-production sound for features: sound Fx recording, dialog, ADR, sound design, foley, and mixing.
